10 feared dead as earthquake shakes southern Spain – Lorca (Murcia)

THE Murcia town of Lorca  experienced two earthquakes on Wednesday afternoon.

The first, of 4.4 on the richter scale was followed by a larger one of 5.2 shortly before 7pm.

Initial reports suggests 10 people have died.

The earthquake was felt in Albacete and Almeria.

Europa Press reports, many buildings have been affected, such as the Belfry of the Church of San Diego, the roof of the asylum, the Torre del Espolón of the Castillo de Lorca  and a wall where a person could may have been trapped.
